The Somerset Levels

http://www.somersetwildlife.org

This is a very special area of wetland, including many nature reserves. There are a huge network of footpaths and tracks for walking and cycling.

You have a good chance of seeing or hearing rare birds. Bittern can be heard 'booming' in the Spring.  During the winter months there are many chances to see the amazing sight of thousands of Starling coming down to the reeds to roost.

Marsh Harrier and Peregrine Falcon are some of the birds of prey often seen on the Somerset levels. Otter have returned to the rivers.
