RACING
ROUND THE WORLD 1920-1935
- First Edition (UK). The book is undated but must have
been written in the mid/late thirties (and later
translated into English by John Eason-Gibson) as it
covers only to 1935 season. The foreword is by that fine
driver, Achille Varzi, This hardback book runs to 220pp. with many
photos of 'Johnnie' in action on some of the most
challenging & varied courses in the world, Tunis -
Tripoli, Mille Miglia , Monza, Pescara 24hrs, Avus even
the Monte Carlo Rally, Turbie & Stelvio Hill Climbs,
Brooklands Double 12 plus the more traditional GP scene.
Lurani raced anywhere as a wealthy amateur and in later
life put back into the Sport by introducing Formula
Junior for the up & coming of the late '50's/early
'60's, but that's getting ahead of the scope of this
Book. A very good book that still excites. In V.G.C. as
is film protected, a little light foxing to edge of
pages. |

LA
SCOMMESSA DI GIANNI LANCIA
- La Lancia tipo D-Competizione dallo Sport alla Formula
Uno. by Valerio Moretti. Published in 1986 by
Autocritica in Italy. Italian text. 120 pages, size
9.7in by 8.9in, hard-bound. This is a good book in a
nice jacket – mild foxing but book looks unread. This
book looks at LANCIA involvement in motor racing in the
period 1953 to 1955. From the D-20 sports models to the
D-50 Formula One cars. This is a great book, well
written by one of Italy’s best motoring historians and
writers. There are plenty of super black and white
period photos. Race results listed. A serious motor
racing history. A great book for all you motor racing
fans. |
